From the Streets to the Racetrack: The Story of Dens Moto

FROM THE STREETS TO THE RACETRACK

If you know these places, then you already understand where this story begins.

Mawab Speedway. Buda. Daview. Big C. Badas. Catigan GP. Route 955. Dragon's Tail Tambayan.

For a generation of Mindanao riders, these weren't simply destinations on a map. These were part of our motorcycle culture. These were our early Sunday mornings, our long rides, our favorite corners, our kape tambayans, our pitik spots, and most importantly, places where complete strangers eventually became riding buddies and lifelong friends.

Our Riding Culture

Some of us remember waking up before sunrise just to meet the group. Motorcycles slowly arriving one after another, everyone preparing for another day on two wheels. We rode because we loved motorcycles. We loved the sound, the feeling, the freedom, the corners and the company of people who understood exactly why riding meant so much to us.

After the ride came the coffee. Bikes parked beside each other while everyone talked about the day, the machines, the tires, the corners, the upgrades and where the next ride would take us. Sometimes we would wait for the photographers to upload their pitik, hoping they captured that one beautiful photo of us and our motorcycle through our favorite corner.

Those moments became memories.

And those memories became part of who we are as riders.

Different ages, different professions, different backgrounds and different motorcycles, yet somehow we found ourselves sitting at the same table because of one shared passion.

As Dens Moto once said, "That's why I love motorcycling. Different ages, different backgrounds, different nations, but connected through two wheels."

And Dens came from that same culture.

He didn't begin his journey standing on a racing podium. Like many riders in Mindanao, his story began with motorcycles, friends, weekend rides, waswasan, knee-dragging spots, corners, coffee stops, pitik photos and the adrenaline that made us fall in love with two wheels in the first place.

Where It All Started

Weekend rides, waswasan, knee-dragging spots and pitik sessions with the barkada.

But eventually, his journey took him somewhere different.

The passion stayed. The love for motorcycles stayed. The adrenaline stayed.

Only the playground changed.

Dens discovered the racetrack.

Discovering the Racetrack

First track days, circuit sessions and the crew that made the leap together.

And when a rider enters a proper circuit, you quickly realize that there is another side of motorcycling waiting to be learned.

It is no longer simply about how much courage you have to open the throttle.

You begin learning braking points. Racing lines. Corner entry. Apexes. Throttle control. Body position. Vision. Consistency.

You begin understanding that being fast is not simply about being aggressive.

Sometimes being faster means being smoother.

Sometimes it means slowing down enough to understand what you are doing wrong.

Sometimes it means listening to someone with more experience than you.

And sometimes it means repeating the same corner over and over until everything finally starts to make sense.

You make a mistake on one lap and the circuit gives you something the public road cannot always give you.

Another opportunity to study that same corner on the next lap.

You come around again.

You adjust.

You learn.

You improve.

Then you do it again.

That is where seat time begins to matter.

That is where experience begins to build.

And that is where a passionate motorcycle rider slowly begins developing into a circuit racer.

For Dens, that development came through consistent training, proper circuit experience and learning from the people around him. His journey was supported by his mentors, the Z2P Zero2Podium, his fellow Mindanao Superbike Enthusiasts, and experienced racers and coaches including Jake Yuraja Gomez.

The lessons became deeper.

The riding became more disciplined.

And the laps began producing results.

At Ducati Cup Leg 3, Dens achieved:

From the streets and Sunday rides to competing on a professional racetrack and standing on the podium.

But this story is bigger than the trophies.

Because Dens represents something many riders in Mindanao can relate to.

He started as an enthusiast.

Someone who simply loved motorcycles.

Someone who enjoyed riding with friends.

Someone who came from the same community and the same culture that many of us know.

The difference is that eventually, he decided to take that passion and develop it inside a proper racing environment.

And that is where we believe the future of Mindanao motorcycle culture can go.

This isn't about forgetting where we came from.

Those Sunday rides gave us memories we will carry for the rest of our lives. Those tambayans introduced us to people who became close friends. Those roads helped build motorcycle communities across Mindanao.

We don't need to erase that culture. We can evolve it.

Because as riders gain more experience, we also begin understanding the realities of public roads.

No matter how skilled the rider is, there are things we cannot control.

Incoming vehicles. Pedestrians. Animals. Gravel. Oil. Blind corners. Road conditions. Families simply traveling from one place to another.

The street belongs to everyone.

And when we truly want to discover how far we can push ourselves and our machines, there should be another place for that.

The racetrack.

This is why having a circuit here in Mindanao matters.

At Davao Circuit Riding Academy, our vision is bigger than simply creating somewhere for motorcycles and cars to go fast.

We want to help build a home for motorsports.

A place where riders can learn.

A place where beginners can experience circuit riding.

A place where experienced riders can continue improving.

A place where coaches can share their knowledge.

A place where motorcycle clubs can spend a Sunday together.

A place where you can bring the same friends, the same motorcycles, the same coffee, the same photographers and the same community, but when it is time to push your limits, you have a proper circuit waiting for you.

Imagine if the motorcycle culture we already have across Mindanao begins finding its way onto the racetrack.

Imagine more riding groups organizing track days.

Imagine experienced riders helping beginners.

Imagine young riders learning proper riding techniques early.

Imagine someone entering the circuit for the first time simply wanting to experience it, then discovering that they have the potential to compete.

Imagine the next national-level racer coming from Mindanao because they finally had somewhere closer to home to put in the laps.

That is the culture we want to help build.

And Dens' journey shows us what is possible.

Not everyone who enters a circuit needs to become a racer.

Not everyone needs to chase trophies.

You can come simply because you want to become a better rider.

You can come because you want to understand your motorcycle.

You can come because you want to experience the circuit with your friends.

But for some riders, something might happen after that first track day.

They might fall in love with the challenge.

They might start chasing improvement.

They might start training.

They might start competing.

And one day, that same rider who used to sit at the kape tambayan talking about motorcycles might find themselves standing on a racing podium.

Just like Dens.

Somewhere in Mindanao today, there may already be another future champion.

Maybe that person is riding with friends in Buda.

Maybe they're having coffee after a Sunday ride.

Maybe they're waiting for their pitik photos.

Maybe they're still learning how to corner.

Maybe they have never considered themselves a racer.

Maybe they simply haven't discovered the circuit yet.

That is why this story is worth sharing.

The roads gave many of us our passion.

The motorcycle community gave us friendships.

Our mentors gave us knowledge.

And now the circuit can give that passion somewhere to grow.

From enthusiast to student.

From student to racer.

From racer to champion.

It doesn't happen overnight.

It happens through discipline, proper training, mentorship and thousands of corners taken one lap at a time.

Dens' story is still being written.

And so is the story of Mindanao motorsports.

Maybe the next chapter starts with something as simple as a group of riding buddies deciding that their next Sunday destination will be different.
